Sea air, salt exposure, and the town’s close-knit community all play a part in how families wish to commemorate loved ones. At Artisan Memorials, we design and install bespoke headstones in Ramsgate that honour both the individual and the coastal town they called home.

Compassionate Help with Headstones in Ramsgate
Selecting headstones in Ramsgate is a deeply personal decision. At Artisan Memorials, we know how important it is to create a fitting tribute that reflects a loved one’s life and values. Our team of memorial masons provides families in Ramsgate and across Kent with compassionate guidance and expert craftsmanship.
Ramsgate’s seaside climate means durability is key. The salt air and changing weather demand memorial stones made from strong, weather-resistant materials. Choosing the right stone type and finish ensures your memorial will remain beautiful and long-lasting for generations.
Types of Headstones Available in Ramsgate
Artisan Memorials offers a comprehensive range of memorial options to suit every family’s needs and preferences. Our collection includes traditional upright headstones, lawn memorials, and headstone grave markers in various styles. Furthermore, we specialise in cremation memorials for families choosing cremation, alongside beautiful memorial plaques for gardens, benches, or walls.
Material choice significantly impacts both appearance and longevity. Granite remains the most popular option due to its exceptional durability and weather resistance. However, slate headstones offer traditional character, whilst marble provides classical elegance. Additionally, each material comes in various colours and finishes, allowing families to create truly personal tributes.

Where we install headstones in Ramsgate
There are several cemeteries and churchyards in Ramsgate where we regularly install headstones. Each site has its own atmosphere, rules, and historical significance. Knowing where your loved one will rest can help guide your memorial design.
Ramsgate Cemetery
As Ramsgate’s main municipal burial ground, this cemetery is managed by Thanet District Council and welcomes visitors throughout the year. Opening hours vary seasonally—from 9am to 6pm between March and September, then 9am to 5pm during autumn and winter months. The site holds particular historical significance, containing 102 First World War burials, with approximately half forming a dedicated war graves plot that includes six unidentified servicemen.
The cemetery’s Remembrance Chapel provides a focal point for reflection, whilst the well-maintained grounds offer peaceful surroundings. We regularly work with Thanet District Council to ensure all memorial installations meet their requirements and honour the cemetery’s dignified atmosphere.

St. George’s Churchyard
With over 5,300 recorded memorials, St. George’s Churchyard stands as one of Ramsgate’s most significant historic burial grounds. This active churchyard continues serving local families whilst preserving centuries of the town’s social history. Its central location makes it a familiar landmark for residents, and the peaceful grounds provide a contemplative setting within the heart of Ramsgate.
Working within churchyards requires sensitivity to ecclesiastical guidelines and respect for the historic environment. Our team collaborates closely with church authorities, ensuring every memorial installation honours both your loved one and the sacred space they occupy.
St. Laurence Churchyard
St. Laurence Churchyard holds special historical importance, with over 1,400 graves spanning several centuries. Among its earliest burials is George Skinner, born in 1594 and laid to rest in 1656, connecting present-day Ramsgate to its maritime past. This continuity appeals to families with deep roots in the town, offering a sense of belonging to Ramsgate’s ongoing story.
The churchyard’s age means memorials here join a tapestry of different styles and periods. We design stones that respect this heritage whilst creating distinctive tributes appropriate for contemporary families.

St. Augustine Roman Catholic Churchyard
Serving Ramsgate’s Catholic community, St. Augustine’s Abbey Churchyard provides consecrated ground that respects Catholic burial traditions. The churchyard maintains the religious observances important to Catholic families whilst offering a peaceful resting place.
Catholic memorials often incorporate specific religious symbols and inscriptions. We work sensitively with church authorities and families to create appropriate designs that honour faith traditions alongside personal remembrance.
